Not bad; remember you're not working with the same limitations I am, though. The original didn't have any percussion in it because I just couldn't fit the instruments into 4 channels. I'm wondering how this would sound with kicks and hats and stuff and a beefier synth lead, instead of just slapping the fruity phazer on it.

Also, the panning could use a lot more variation. You don't usually want all your sounds to come out of one side because it makes the track feel unbalanced.

I actually didn't use flstudio for this. I used Adobe Soundbooth. I'll be using flstudio for the other channels, i just needed this as a channel that preserves the original song as much as possible while being as different as possible. The pitch changes eleven times in this, the tempo changes 4 times, it's 110% the speed of the original. I added a Led Zepplin phaser, three kinds of distortion, some heavy delay, some echo, and a bunch of settings that were for speech.

This is crazy for an hour's worth of work! Nice job!

silencefreedom responds:

Mostly instruments are presets from other projects I left over. The long part is just melodies. Wrote and construct from scratch.

Thank you a lot my friend.

Great work! I'm definitely getting a distinct feel from this track. Maybe I'm influenced by the title, but I'm picturing an innocent child frolicking in a vast green field on a warm, sunny day. You've certainly got the benevolent/relaxing sound down.

On the technical side, you did a fantastic job with the reverb and arpeggio effects. The track sounds deceptively simple, but only because you did so well blending everything together seamlessly. You've got a good ear.

Cheers!

8BitPICE responds:

Awesome review. Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it :)

This is pretty good! It definitely sounds like 8-bit, and I really like the portamentos you used.

The track is nice and simple, the saw waves make it sound almost nostalgic. It does feel a little sparse, obviously isn't always a bad thing for music like this. I'm not really hooked on the melody either, but that's just me.

Overall, nice work!

Irtorius responds:

Thanks :D
Yeah those portamentos does alot for the feel of the music, sounds a little stale otherwise :3
I only use 4 channels, but that's not sn excuse for making it sparse, but I just go along with the sound I like and I think it turned out good :)

Solid!

This generates very strong atmospheric tension. I'm getting a hint of the Inception OST, which is great indeed.

I continue to be impressed, keep 'em coming, man!

bakeroflongo responds:

If you read the description, I used an idea and scored my own from one of the cues in inception. Just without using 32 french horns and 20 trombones

Definitely pro

Your expertise is apparent. This loop is so rich with a variety of interesting sounds that it just doesn't seem to get old, despite its 31 second running length. I'm impressed, I tend to admire artists who can pull off ambient music, since there seems to be some aspect of it that I can't quite grasp myself.

Keep it up, I dig this.

bakeroflongo responds:

Thanks a lot! I'm not the best with ambient music, I normally write orchestral music with melody and harmony. :D

Nice one

Again, a major issue in this is the mastering. The yelling at the beginning is painful on the ears and clips really badly, but other than that the song sounds pretty fuckin' sweet.

JeffRoss responds:

Buddy in the begininng is just a freind i wanted to make feel loved and said he could e our hype man

Watch out for sound levels

You've got a harsh discrepancy between audio levels in this one. The lyrics in the first half are too quiet and the lyrics in the second half are like twice as loud. Watch out for that when you're mastering, it sounds really amateurish.

JeffRoss responds:

Lol yeah there was really no editing on this one just kind of a spur of the moment thing. My friends recorded and I wanted to hop on so I had to download they're original and record after there song ended. Thanks for the feedback I'll be posting a song I recorded today that I think got mastered pretty good.

Mmm, weed... Always a good subject...

This is actually pretty good, man. The one glaring issue I have with it is the vocals clipping so much in parts. Maybe it's your mic, if so I'd say go pick up a nice condenser mic with a pop filter.

You're right that the chorus is a little off. In my opinion if you shouldn't rush shit like that, no reason to fuck up your whole song because you didn't feel like doing the chorus right the first time.

Lyrics could be better, you got some weird syllable counts, but I'm not really complaining too much since I'm not exactly a lyrical genius myself.

All in all you got some potential; lose the clipping, make sure the chorus sounds crisp, and tweak the lyrics a bit and you've got some pro shit right here.

JeffRoss responds:

It's not the mic I think it's the room, we tried to layer over each other then we saved over a good one we had then my wife started rushing me. Im just so impatient I like to get my lyrics out there you know I don't want this page to be dead.

Blew me away

Man, this is pretty intense! You did a fantastic job of remixing those tunes together. The whole track feels really solid and delightfully full. After two listens, I really can't think of anything I'd want to change about it. Seriously awesome stuff. Now to check out the rest of your music... :D

Gario responds:

Thanks a lot - always appreciate the comments :)

I hope my other music holds up for you.

Hi I draw things, and sometimes I draw lots of things that look like they're moving when you look at them one after another really fast. Also music!
