Watch out for sound levels

You've got a harsh discrepancy between audio levels in this one. The lyrics in the first half are too quiet and the lyrics in the second half are like twice as loud. Watch out for that when you're mastering, it sounds really amateurish.

JeffRoss responds:

Lol yeah there was really no editing on this one just kind of a spur of the moment thing. My friends recorded and I wanted to hop on so I had to download they're original and record after there song ended. Thanks for the feedback I'll be posting a song I recorded today that I think got mastered pretty good.

Mmm, weed... Always a good subject...

This is actually pretty good, man. The one glaring issue I have with it is the vocals clipping so much in parts. Maybe it's your mic, if so I'd say go pick up a nice condenser mic with a pop filter.

You're right that the chorus is a little off. In my opinion if you shouldn't rush shit like that, no reason to fuck up your whole song because you didn't feel like doing the chorus right the first time.

Lyrics could be better, you got some weird syllable counts, but I'm not really complaining too much since I'm not exactly a lyrical genius myself.

All in all you got some potential; lose the clipping, make sure the chorus sounds crisp, and tweak the lyrics a bit and you've got some pro shit right here.

JeffRoss responds:

It's not the mic I think it's the room, we tried to layer over each other then we saved over a good one we had then my wife started rushing me. Im just so impatient I like to get my lyrics out there you know I don't want this page to be dead.

Blew me away

Man, this is pretty intense! You did a fantastic job of remixing those tunes together. The whole track feels really solid and delightfully full. After two listens, I really can't think of anything I'd want to change about it. Seriously awesome stuff. Now to check out the rest of your music... :D

Gario responds:

Thanks a lot - always appreciate the comments :)

I hope my other music holds up for you.

I dig it

Hey man this is pretty sweet, I'm really enjoying a lot of the effects you used, and the transition from the intro to the rest of the song was pretty badass. Some of the drum sounds weren't too good though, and I particularly noticed some weakness in the cymbal crashes. I'd also recommend not having QUITE so much going on as you do at points like ~1:00. At least for me, it sounded a little overfull, and some of the sounds seemed to be clashing, if you know what I mean.

Hell yeah!

This is awesome. I was actually planning on sitting down and doing EXACTLY this since I woke up this morning, but then I got distracted and checked the audio portal and here it is. Did you make this in a tracking program? LSDJ?

Either way, I'm digging it.

Say what you want about me but

this sounds like something I'd love to just space out to when I'm stoned. Seriously, it's got that perfect vibe, the depth, the gradual casual change, it all seems to progress and coalesce as one would expect. It's so chill it's frozen in carbonite and I'm trapped in there with it, listening because I can't move an inch. I'm more spellbound than enraptured, but it's all the same anyway.

Sick stuff, man. You get a 0.

KKSlider60 responds:

Thank you man, nice to have you stoned for good XDD
New stuff is coming soon

I love this

It seems to work quite well as background music for just about anything. A menu in a game, a trippy scene in a movie, microwaving leftovers, etc.

I love it so much I'm going to have to go beyond 10 and give you a nice round 0.

KKSlider60 responds:

Haha, thanks :D
Actually, to think of it, a 10 has always a 0 in it.

Nice!

This is great, I'd like to see you make a nice loop out of it. I think it could do without the silence at the end, at least, considering it's so short.

I'm just starting to get into chiptune stuff myself, I posted the stuff I've made so far the other day.

8BitPICE responds:

Thx i will try to do something like that :).

I can recommend Magical8bit Plug in, it's easy to understand and works really fine! :)

Nice

Great ambiance, this can really help to establish a darker or calmer mood. The only constructive thing I say is that I was getting a good deal of clipping, and that you might want to consider limiting the louder sounds a bit.

Really good stuff, though!

Calamaistr responds:

thanks, it kindof reflects how i feel atm.

not bad

I really like the classic video-game sound you've got, and the juxtaposition with that warm synth sound makes for a solid track. Though with that warm sound I'm noticing a pop between the notes and that throws me off a bit. I don't know if you want that there, but it doesn't appeal to my taste, personally, since it doesn't seem to suit the sound. Try slicing a bit off the front of the audio clip you're using for it or maybe turning up the attack a tiny bit to get rid of that.

Although once again I can say you've produced a pretty solid piece.

Hi I draw things, and sometimes I draw lots of things that look like they're moving when you look at them one after another really fast. Also music!
